How does BiWaze® Clear Work?

The BiWaze® Clear System delivers oscillating lung expansion (OLE) therapy to help treat and prevent atelectasis, mobilize mucus from deep within the lungs, and reduce the work of breathing.

The system provides three integrated respiratory therapies:

  • Positive Expiratory Pressure (PEP): Delivers programmed positive pressure that the patient exhales against, opening and expanding the airways. At the same time, the nebulizer can operate to distribute saline solution throughout the airways, enhancing mucus mobilization.
  • High-Frequency Oscillation (HFO): Generates programmed pulses of positive pressure to thin mucus and move it from the distal to the upper airways, where it can be coughed out or suctioned. The nebulizer can also run during HFO therapy for enhanced saline distribution.
  • Nebulizer (NEB): Powers the integrated Aerogen® Solo vibrating mesh nebulizer to deliver aerosolized saline directly to the lungs.
Alternating between PEP and HFO every 2.5 minutes while continuously delivering NEB therapy, the system completes a full OLE therapy session in just 10 minutes.
